Haunted Homecoming - The R and R Station in the news again!

Auctioneer Ann Nahrbecki and Mt. Pleasant Historical Society member Richard Snyder look over architectural drawings from the 1920s of a war memorial for the center of town in Mt. Pleasant. The drawings were auctioned off for $1,925. Sherry Wingrove, owner of the R&R Station Restaurant and Hotel in Mt. Pleasant, was the highest bidder.

The building was built in 1883 and has been a Hotel since 1900. It's close proximity to the tracks made it very instrumental in the railroad history.  In 1936 it housed the Turnpike workers and was their main headquarters while the Turnpike was being built. Also that year, it sustained $5,000 in damage when a streetcar hit the side of the building.
