Auctioneer Ann Nahrbecki and Mt.
Pleasant Historical Society member Richard Snyder look over
architectural drawings from the 1920s of a war memorial for the center
of town in Mt. Pleasant. The drawings were auctioned off for $1,925.
Sherry Wingrove, owner of the R&R Station Restaurant and Hotel in Mt.
Pleasant, was the highest bidder.

The building was built in 1883 and has been a Hotel since 1900. It's
close proximity to the tracks made it very instrumental in the railroad
history. In 1936 it housed the Turnpike workers and was their main
headquarters while the Turnpike was being built. Also that year, it
sustained $5,000 in damage when a streetcar hit the side of the
building.
